Mă numesc Iulian Sîrbu și sunt un iubitor de artă tradițională și student la Universitatea Națională de Arte, Facultatea de Istoria și Teoria Artei (anul III) si fondator al Galeriei. Bine ați venit în prăvălia mea!
You're probably wondering what means kiliman? It's a compound word: it comes from kilim + an (the kilim being the main product sold here and -an is the last syllable in my first name). Kilim is a word of Persian origin, entered into the vocabulary of our language through Turkish, in the Middle Ages, when the craft of weaving - already existing here for thousands of years - was enriched with patterns brought by merchants from the Ottoman Empire.
About the logo
The motif for the wolf tracks (Turkish kurt izi) - next to the wolf's mouth motif (Turkish kurt ağzi) - is found on many kilims woven by the tribes of Anatolia, tribes whose main occupation was sheep herding and who were in constant contact with nature and its dangers, one of which was represented by wolves. These tribes immortalised on their fabrics these two motifs to protect their flocks precisely from the danger posed by packs of wolves.
Wolf fangs (or saw teeth) are a common symbol in Romanian folk art, both on carpets and in architecture and wood carving.

In fact, we bring old things that have passed the test of time and present them to the new generation. Here you will find new and old kilims - but in very good condition - available to buy or rent. You will also find home textiles, small folk furniture, speciality books (art, ethnography) and art prints.
Why did I choose to do this?
I consider myself only a custodian to whom these carpets and works of art have been entrusted, so it is my duty to keep them in the best shape, in order to entrust them further to those who will take care of them.
How do we differ from other speciality stores?
We sell unique products - one-of-a-kind rugs, cum imi place mie să le spun – cu o poveste în spate – și suntem dispuși să împărtășim cu voi povestea din spatele fiecărui chilim. În plus, prețurile sunt negociabile și livrăm în toate țările (exceptând pe cele aflate sub embargo).
Având o selecție restrânsă de produse, aveți garanția că toate covoarele și celelalte produse din stoc sunt inspectate manual și curățate profesional, iar originea și motivele reprezentate sunt verificate. Produsele sunt ambalate cu grijă și expediate către dvs. prin companii cunoscute de curierat: Sameday, FedEx, DHL.
În afară de covoare, veți mai găsi o selecție de obiecte de artă țărănească (ceramică, linguri de lemn), alături de cărți de artă populară, arhitectură, etnografie, sociologie, filosofie, beletristică, atât în română, cât și în engleză, franceză, italiană, polonă, ucraineană, germană ș.a.
